"It was with very great regret we heard that Dewi Jones, Waen was last night accidentally shot whilst out last night with two other lads in a field close to school. Dewi Jones had not long left school, was very popular with his school fellows, was captain of school. During the last winter season he attended the night school and seemed to be the heart and soul of everything. He was always ready resourceful, obedient and cheerful. His death has cast a terrible gloom over the neighbourhood."
