Cwmdeuddwr National School 9
Mr Llewellyn Davies

Domestic problems
Mr Davies was a great servant of the school and community and saw the school through many difficulties. After the tragedy of losing his son in the war, there were further difficulties in May 1919, as seen in the School Log Book.

The above extract reads:
"The school was closed for the afternoon to enable the master to attend to the sale of his household effects, as he cannot secure a suitable home in the neighbourhood, convenient to the school. The house in which he lived was bought by a wealthy farmer & the Master has had to turn out to enable the farmer to take possession for his own use, although he is the tenant of two farms in the parish, and he lives in neither of them. The want of a schoolhouse is now keenly felt, and the authorities should be compelled to see that a Master has some security of tenure without having his domestic arrangements upset in this way after 29 years."

Mr Davies' last years
Mr Davies' career was not over however and later he was given a new appointment in the locality.
