They read:-
"Started moving to Rhayader V.P. School. The children were given a party and presented with china bells to commemorate the closure of the school. The bells were inscribed 'Cwmdeuddwr School 1794 to 1978'. Mrs R. Davies was presented with a silver candle, a wristwatch and a bouquet. Mrs M. Williams was presented with a cut glass bowl. Neither ladies are moving to the new school. Mrs R. Davies has been a cook at this school for over 36 years.
We all enjoyed our party and I was pleased to accept a bouquet of flowers from the staff. We move into our new premises tomorrow, May 12th. The lower part of the building of Rhayader School has been modernised for us. This school is now closed.
Avril Evans (Mrs), Acting Head
