Hay British Infants School 8
An air pageant, 1933

  Not at the May Fair
Still on the subject of diversions and distractions for the little children of the Infants School, the entry in the School Log Books shown here betrays more than a hint of being resigned to the lure of other attractions in town !

From 17th May 1943, this entry reads:
"May-fair-day in Hay today. Few of the absentees made this an excuse for their absence".

A brief but interesting reference from the school log book written on 18th September 1933 is shown above. This was a time of rapid growth and of great public interest in aviation, and a flying display must have been particularly exciting for the children of a rural area, since such events around this time often included stunt flying, wing walking and similar thrills.
