Hay British Infants School 3 The attendances keep very wretched
Laid up with children-pox
More of the many problems caused to the school by the illness
of the very youngest children at the Hay British School are shown
below in these entries from the School Log Books.

The above entry was recorded on 29th April 1892: "Admitted one girl this week. Find that many of the little
ones are suffering with the whooping cough". An unintentionally amusing reference on a very serious subject
appears in this entry written in the log book on 23rd November
1894, when the teacher refers mistakenly to 'children-pox'
instead of chicken-pox !
