Presteigne - The British School 5
Co-operation

  Links with the National School
As a National School was founded in Presteigne around the same time there was always likely to be a measure of competition between the two. The following extracts from the school Log Books show that there was also a measure of mutual respect and co-operation. The pupils may well have thought otherwise!

School log book extract

This extract from the school log books reads
"A very good number present - the clergyman visited the School, desiring our scholars to learn two or three Hymns, for the Ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the National School by the Bishop on Friday."

Another example of contacts with the new National School is shown on the next page.
