Mae llyfr nodiadau y gohebydd lleol J.W.Newell (roedd ei deulu yn berchnogion siop lleol adnabyddus) yn cofnodi tân nodweddiadol, y math a gai ei drin gan yr offer pwmp llaw a dynnir gan geffyl a ddangosir ar y dudalen flaenorol.
"About 2a.m P.C. Price discovered that a rick of hay, belonging to Mr W.H. Weaver of the Barley Row was on fire in the yard adjoining the Railway Station. Luckily there was no wind stirring or the flame would have proved disastrous by igniting the other stacks. Although the rick was literally enveloped in flame, thanks the V.F (Volunteer Fire) Brigade, with the two engines , the fire was eventually extinguished. It is supposed that the hay caught fire owing to its having been insufficiently made. Oct.4.1880"
