Ystradgynlais
Gough's buildings
  Old Ystradgynlais

At the beginning of the 19th century the Gough family built a network of houses for workers in the Ironworks and coal pits. They were built on a strip of land like an island between the Swansea Canal and the River Tawe,
By looking at old maps and photographs we can get a glimpse of what Victorian Ystradgynlais must have been like.
