The Elan Valley dams

  People of the drowned valleys
The wonderful group photograph shown below was taken shortly before the valleys of the Rivers Elan and Claerwen were to be flooded for ever by the new Birmingham waterworks scheme.
The people from the two valleys gathered together in Dol-y-Mynach meadow for a special tea party and entertainment for the children.
The smaller pictures are close-up details from the main photograph, including the fiddler on the right !
