Llandrindod and central Radnorshire
 
 

From Llanbarn Fynydd in the north to Rhulen in the south this is still a rural area of scattered tiny communities.
In the early years of Queen Victoria's reign almost everyone worked on the land or in related jobs. There was not a single town in this area, and most villages had just a few houses.

Some of the rural communities in the area may not appear to have changed all that much in the Victorian years. The lives of the people living in them did though, and an entire new town appeared !
