From Llanbarn Fynydd
in the north to Rhulen in the south this is still a rural area of scattered
tiny communities.
In the early years of Queen Victoria's reign almost everyone worked
on the land or in related jobs. There was not a single town
in this area, and most villages had just a few houses.

Some of the rural communities in
the area may not appear to have changed all that much in the Victorian
years. The lives of the people living in them did though, and an entire
new town appeared !
