Though born in London in 1806, Ince moved to Wales in his early childhood and went to school in Presteigne. The artist spent some time in London and returned to Presteigne in 1830. He produced a number of landscapes of the attractive countryside of mid-Wales and the Wye Valley in the 1830s. His house in Broad Street, Presteigne carries a blue plaque in his memory.
