The two pictures on this final page on the story of the Hay Fire Brigade date from 1939 and 1940. The first of these, shown below, is of the members of the brigade in their best uniforms in a ceremonial parade in Hay in 1939.

  The last days of the old faithful "Firefly" steam engine are shown in the photograph below, taken when it was moved to Whitney-on-Wye in 1940 to be broken up for wartime scrap.
