Nantmel in 1895. The Private
Residents are the property owners and the local vicar. These are people
who did not have to earn their living by being in trade or by working
for someone else.
The people under the Commercial
heading are people who earn their living by providing services to the
local community.
The millers and the blacksmith all provided important services in the
country areas, as did the Post Office, shops and pubs.
With no supermarkets and limited transport local shops and markets provided
the food that people needed.
