Kelly's Directory 3: more Cwmdeuddwr tradesmen
Don't forget!
The surnames are first

The list opposite shows more tradesmen from 1895, both in the village of Cwmdeuddwr and the Elan Valley. Notice the businesses which have sprung up to provide services to the construction workers' community.

The River Plate Meat Company Company provides meat to the thriving community. The River Plate is in South America in an area known for cattle rearing. Perhaps this meat was imported for the workers.

Mr John Roberts is running a Chemists and Post Office in the valley, and Seth Thomas a Grocers and drapers (selling cloth).

The engineers working on the great construction of the dams and reservoirs are also listed.
