This old (and rather spotty !) photograph was taken around 1890 at the Llanidloes Railway Foundry.
The foundry buildings were near the station, and were used for making and repairing tracks and equipment for the Cambrian Railway Company.

The main foundry buildings for the railway were put up in 1864 and closed in 1983.
Although the foundries have gone, the name carries on in Llanidloes with Foundry Lane and Foundry Terrace.
