This is not a Victorian photograph (The cars in the picture are old, but not that old !) but the attractive old houses seen here were to be found in Bethel Street during the whole of the Victorian period - and for many years before then !
They were all knocked down in the 1950s, which, like the 1960s, was a very busy time for people who knock buildings down !

There were once lots of old timber framed houses like these in the town, but very few are still around today.
The old Bethel Street chapel can just be seen opposite the row of five houses, one of which was once a bakehouse.
