In Victorian times most of the people of this large rural parish would have been involved in farming or working on the land in some way. There would have been local craftsmen like blacksmiths and shoemakers providing a much-needed service to the community.
Llanddewi benefited by being on the main road to Newtown and the North. This meant the inns would get visitors passing through.
