Llanidloes, 1835
A town by a noble stream

  Handsome bridges and spacious streets
The extract below is taken from the entry for Llanidloes as published in Pigot and Co's Directory (North Wales), a commercial Trade Directory of 1835.
The residents of the town will have enjoyed the references to the beginnings of the River Severn as a "noble stream" and to the "handsome stone bridges" and "spacious streets" of the town.
The large size of the nonconformist chapels, one seating "upwards of one thousand persons", is also recorded.

Gazetteer entry of 1835
As with the Parliamentary Gazetteer of 1843, which probably used this guide as a source, the "handsome residences" of "opulent individuals" are mentioned, and "the roads around are kept in superior order"
