Llanidloes, 1843
A cheerful and agreeable aspect

  A Parliamentary Gazetteer of 1843
The extract shown here is from a Gazetteer published in 1843. It notes that the town has much improved over the years, and credits Llanidloes with 'a more cheerful and agreeable aspect'.
The description would be rather better received by residents of the town than the remarks in the 1812 guidebook shown on another page.

Also of interest is the quaintly phrased reference to 'several handsome residences' belonging to 'opulent individuals'. No doubt the owners would have been more than happy with such a description.
