Earning a living
  Kelly's Directory 1895: Llanfilo

Here is the entry for the community of Llanfilo.
You can see at the top the clergy and gentry - people of independent income who did not have to have a job to earn a living. After that come the farmers of the community.
The publishers of the directory were unused to Welsh names and so there are some unusual spellings at times ! Can you recognise any of them ?

Don't forget!
The surnames are first

This is a small community but by this time it had a school for 50 children run by headmistress Mrs Margaret Williams.

It also had a post office with regular collections run by Sub-Postmaster William Williams.
