West Street, 1890

Though it is often hard to give an exact date for Victorian photographs, this one was recorded as being taken in 1890.
The sight of a photographer setting up his heavy tripod and large wooden plate camera was still an unusual sight, (especially in small market towns !) at this time. Most early street scenes include local people - especially children - watching the photographer going about his mysterious business !
