Entry from Quarter Sessions

This entry follows on from the one on the last page, and reads...
"...Thomas Wilding, Edward Wilding and Edward Cooke to be transported for life, William Ashmore to be transported for ten years and John Parker for seven years..."

People who were sentenced to be transported overseas, originally to America and then later on to Australia, were never able to return home after their sentence.
Many died from disease in the crowded conditions on board during the slow journey by sailing ship.
