  Highway robbery in 1848  
 

This case from the Victorian records of Radnorshire Drawing of hold-upcrimes refers to "Highway robbery with violence" as well as to the much more common offence of burglary.

The entry in the Order Book of 1848 names three men who were found guilty of highway robbery, two of them from the same family, and two more who were guilty of burglary...

"...Thomas Wilding, Edward Wilding and Edward Cook, for Highway Robbery with violence and William Ashmore and John Parker for Burglary were respectively convicted at the last Radnorshire Assizes and sentenced..."
