  Church House, Presteigne

This is another picture taken from an old picture postcard dating from around the end of the Victorian period.
This is a view of Church House in Broad Street, Presteigne. This is the house which was hidden behind the tree in another of our pictures, taken from further up Broad Street.

Church House

You can see why it was called Church House, because the old parish church of Presteigne is right alongside the house, and the back gate opens into the churchyard.

The picture is particularly interesting because of the two typical Victorian forms of transport next to the house. Both bicycles and various kinds of horsedrawn carriages and carts were widely used at this time.
