  Archibald Robertson was 30 in 1891, and was described as being a lunatic. Many people with mental illness ended up in the workhouse as there was no other means of caring for them.
Property was often taken away and sold in an attempt to recover some of the costs of an inmate’s upkeep.
Lunatic - a term once used to describe a person with a mental illness.

The entry above from the workhouse record book, which is not very clear, reads:
"Archibald Robertson, Workhouse
The master reported that this man was possessed of some furniture which were stored at Pendre Mill. Resolved that the master be directed to cause the furniture referred to to be removed to the workhouse."
