  Census figures for Treflys parish

The actual recorded figures for the population of the parish were:-
  In the year 1841 - 494 people
In the year 1851 - 496
In the year 1861 - 474
In the year 1871 - 487

In the early Victorian period Treflys was part of the old parish of Llangamarch along with Penbuallt. We have recorded the figures separately to make it easier to compare. Treflys is a large upland area including just the Northern part of the hamlet of Llangamarch. (To see a map of it around this time click here).

Compare this graph with those of other parishes in the area.
Is the overall trend the same?
If the trend differs, in what way does it differ?

What was happening in the area in the 1870s and 1880s which might have caused the population to rise again?
