"The Managers are reminded that Section 3 of the Elementary Education Act of 1891, precludes their charging the scholars in future for fuel". |
Many schools tried to save on the cost of fuel by not lighting fires until they had to. The head teacher at Manafon School in 1875 had to be told to use the fire when it was cold and not just go by the date on the calendar ! |
