Stanage
parish was originally part of the parish of Brampton Bryan but then became
a parish in its own right. Most people in this small rural parish were farmers, farm labourers or farm servants but there were also estate workers, gardeners and servants working for Stanage Park. (See pages on Earning a Living). Notice that the population stayed fairly steady across the period with some minor variations. |

Compare
this graph with those of the other small rural parishes in the area like
Heyope or Pilleth. Then compare it with a town parish like Knighton. Is the overall trend the same? If the trend differs, in what way does it differ? |
