Like the neighbouring parishes of Glasbury and Clyro, Llowes is a country parish with some valley land and some upland pasture. In Victorian times most people would be involved in working on the land in some way as shepherds tenants, labourers or farm servants, though there were craftsmen and tradesmen in the community as well.
