Like Llanddewi'r Cwm, this parish is an upland area of small farms with sheep on the hills, but close enough to Builth to allow for some local people to travel there to work. The figures for 1841 include the weavers living at Nant-yr-arian which is just inside the parish. Away from Builth just about everbody in the parish would have been involved in working on the land or like the miller and the blacksmith providing a service to the farmer.
