  This document is part of a medieval account roll for the manor of Presteigne. It dates from 1385 and is written in Latin, with many of the words abbreviated to save parchment. It is written on the cleaner inner or "stomach" side of the skin.

  The account reads:-     

 Presthemede

Compotus Hugonis ap Gwillim ap Eignon balliui et Ricardi Tomkyns cacherellus ibidem a festo Sancti Michaelis Archangeli Anno Regni Regis Ricardi Secundi post conquestum viiiuo usque idem festum Anno Regni eiusdem Regis ixno per unum annum integrum quod quidam dominum existens in manerio exed’ ac de Annuatim[?] in compoto Reddendum de Hec Anno.

Eisdem oneranda de xxx libris ij solidis ix denariis obolus de arreragiis [---] compoti ibidem anni precedentis
