Punishment by whipping 4
A flogging for unlawful gaming

  The loss of a guinea
The following brief entry from the records of the Quarter Sessions refers to the treatment meted out in 1784 to one William Ireland, who was found guilty of cheating at an unlawful game. It is probable that this would have involved the use of dice or playing cards to extract a guinea from the unfortunate William Jones.
