The old photograph shown here was sold as a souvenir postcard of Presteigne in about 1900, at the end of Queen Victoria's reign.
The picture was taken looking along Hereford Street towards the east and the border with Herefordshire.

The view still looks much the same over 100 years later. The clothes have changed a bit, the horses have been replaced by cars, and the Cadbury's chocolate advertisements have gone, though !
