  After the storm

The rather foggy old photograph below shows us the aftermath of a summer storm in July 1893.
It must have been quite a thunderstorm because a great deal of mud and stones has been washed down the hill behind the Town Hall.

Picture by kind permission of the Old Bell Museum,
Montgomery Civic Society

Notice the children who have come out to see the excitement. You can also just make out a girl crossing the street by the Town Hall door.
In the background you can see the Dragon Hotel (the timbered building). To the right you can just make out the "American Studio" where local people could go to have their photograph taken.
