Montgomery and district
in Victorian times
  The view towards Montgomery

This attractive old engraving shows the approach to Montgomery from Forden, to the north of the old town.
We do not have details of the artist or the engraver or even a very accurate date, but it may have been made around 1840.

Engraving of Montgomery

The remains of Montgomery Castle can be seen on the right, perched high on the rocks above the little town.
The tower of the 13th century parish church of St Nicholas is in the distance on the left of the picture.
