The Marquis of Londonderry is by now listed under Plas Machynlleththat new title, which he inherited just two years earlier, in 1872. He had appeared in earlier listings of the gentry of the district as the Rt Hon Earl Vane.
The house is named here as Plas Maengwyn rather than Plas Machynlleth, though the house does not seem to have been known by that name elsewhere.
