Large Scale Maps of the Area

Here are two large scale maps of Crickhowell. They were produced by the Ordnance Survey at a scale of six inches to the mile. The first edition was produced in 1888 and revised for a second edition in 1904. These pre-date the modern system of referencing used by the Ordnance Survey which is known as the national grid. Note the high level of detail at this scale, particularly on the first edition, where even individual mature trees in the hedgerows are shown.
